The piece dates back to an older Etude, which now received it's new name, "Dialogue", as it always intended to present a true discourse between two players, two instruments, while keeping a truly simple ternary ABA form, and a focus on beauty of tone and honest expression. As the conversation heats up in the second part, the voices interweave and cross registers till it is hard to know who has gained the upper hand before falling back into emotionally honest, yet sometimes tense, place. The notes in the last 2 bars are the same exact notes we heard in the first 2 bars, yet, after this roller-coaster of an exchange, we are not the same anymore. And so is our partner.

Technical & Performance Notes:
Dynamics: In the slow sections, please do not compromise tone for adherence to very soft dynamics, if sustaining a double stop necessitates a bit more pressure. Just maintain the relative balance and flow of the preceding and following dynamics.
Bowings: I have added my suggestions of bowing markings across the piece. I encourage the performers to alter these, as they often do after a few first run-throughs of the work, if they find more emotive, comfortable or appropriate phrasings per their interpretation.
For the most part, 16th notes are to be played on the string, or only slightly off the string.
Glissandi: All glissandi appearing in the score are portamentos, and should begin closer to the end of the note's duration. Find an appropriate legato-slide speed that feels contextually and musically appropriate.
